Misty Underwood is a non-enrolled descendant of the Muscogee Creek and Choctaw Nations of Oklahoma. Misty has worked in diverse capacities within education since 2002. She has experience in academic affairs and advising, counselling, university teaching and research as well as classroom teaching. She is the Aboriginal Program Support Coordinator for the Aboriginal Teacher Education Program (ATEP) within the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. Misty is currently a doctoral candidate in Educational Policy Studies at the University of Alberta. Her doctoral research focuses on the transmission of traditional corn knowledge within her respective communities and ultimately calls for the rematriation of both ancestral homelands and ancestral seeds.
